Introduced to Ron Padgett’s Poem “How to be Perfect” at Verve workshop with Dean Atta & Deanna Rodger. Thoroughly enjoyed it, much head-nodding. The whole workshop was inspiring & useful and fun. Good people.

Just had one of my pieces longlisted in a competition in online magazine Brilliant Flash Fiction. Always satisfying to see work published.

So now, I have several pieces in both Bulkington Writers Anthologies, on Amazon in both Kindle & paperback; a piece in Thynks Publication’s Christmas Celebrations available from this author, if you’re Christmas shopping early.

Indigo Dreams publishers were pleased to accept a piece in one of last year’s quarterly  Dawntreader magazines. Over the next few weeks, I’ll be looking at submitting to opportunities as different as  Magma Poetry and Nuneaton Festival of Arts, Alongside fine tuning my latest presentation on Spinning, Sheep, & Wool. If I’m not tempted away to the wheel & peg loom too much.

Diverse Voices is our writing group’s first foray into e-publishing and I’m rather proud of having a bit of everything in there – poetry, fiction, & creative non-fiction.  On Amazon Kindle as Diverse Voices, by  Bulkington Writers at under £3, we’ve already had  sales, including one from Australia – about as far away from Bulkington as you can get.  Tony, who’s put hours into giving the work a professional finish is still puzzled by that far flung notoriety. Don’t think we’ll go quite as viral as Shades of Grey.

We’ll be working on a Christmas Anthology e-book next. That will complement the Christmas Celebrations anthology I’m already published in – ISBN 978-1-900410-69-4 and on Amazon at £5.99. Although to friends & family close enough for personal delivery, £5.50 if you’ve started Christmas Shopping.

Sitting nicely alongside my First prize & Highly Commended in this year’s Nuneaton Festival of Arts writing classes, and in expectation of a piece in Indigo Dream’s quarterly Dawntreader magazine.

Papering the study wall May 31, 2013

I’ve had some pleasing successes recently: as well as continuing to paper the study wall with certificates, I have two trophies on the sideboard & a third to join them very soon.

I put a magazine article in Nuneaton Festival of Arts & it came first in its class with the Stella Branston Trophy.  Then of four poems entered, one won its class & was awarded the Albert F Cross  as best across the poetry classes.  the other three poems gained certificates of merit.

there’s a weird coincidence as my grandfather was Albert Cross.  I’ve found references to this Albert’s poetry, but not been able to track down any copies yet.

We got the results of Nuneaton Writers Circle Poetry competition, and with it another first – the second year running.  I’m trying competitions a bit further afield now.

my only regret is that if I add the poems to the blog, they are considered published, which limits what i might be able to do with them in the future.

for the first time ever, I entered a felting-embellished machine-embroidered collage in the textile class of Nuneaton Festival of Arts & was pleased to get a certificate of merit for so early a piece of work.  Hopefully, when that returns from exhibition at the museum, I can add a photograph.

these certificates join others in the past 2 years of semi-retirement from the World Marmalade  Awards, UK Real Jam Competition, and a couple from the National Honey Show.

all these years of missed opportunities – I have to stick to Carpe Diem now.
