Spent the weekend in the Lakes & called in at the Marmalade Festival, to see what I was up against.  with 1,700 entries from all over the world, all three marmalades got respectable marks for a first time, but not enough to pull any prizes.  But I still have some delicious merry marmalades for sale – each with a little alcoholic zing just right for a weekend wakeup: 

soft-set lemon & ginger maramalade with limoncello – this will ooze beautifully off a crumpet giving you a perfect opportunity to lick your fingers.  it would also work well in a marmalade pudding.

rich, dark, three-fruit marmalade with honey,  & whisky liqueur – just right with a toasted doorstep of brown bread.  I’d also like to try this in a glaze for gammon or duck. 

lemon & lime marmalade with limoncello – the delicate lime aroma & flavour make this one my favourite, it would brighten up even a white sliced toast.  Does anyone experiment with ice-cream?  I’d like to see this whirled into a clotted-cream based ice-cream, or even a delicate sorbet.  Then  what about whizzed into a vodka-based  cocktail?
