I took the honey crop a few days ago & now we have some sun – I’m wondering if I should have left it a while.  More on their page. honey bee on borage

honey bee on borage

Meanwhile, at home, the garden visitors are enjoying the borage  – a promiscuous self-setter.  This came up   since I last weeded the strawberry patch.  One to remember – it means there’s forage in the garden later into the season.  The Romans said borage “gladdens mens’ hearts” & used to take it before going into battle.  The young leaves are also supposed to to be good in salad – cucumbery – but I still find them hairy.  I just hope they’re my allotment bees getting the benefit.
